GOVERNOR
ERLICH APPOINTS SHELTER PARTNER JEFFREY K. HETTLEMAN TO THE GOVERNOR'S
COMMISSION ON HOUSING POLICY FOR THE STATE OF MARYLAND
Baltimore, Md.-The Shelter Group, a nationally known developer and
manager of apartment communities, senior living communities, and
affordable housing, announced today that Jeffrey K. Hettleman, one
of The Shelter Group partners and executive vice president of Shelter
Development, has been appointed by Governor Robert Ehrlich to a
newly-formed 21-member Commission on Housing Policy for the State
of Maryland.
Created by Governor Ehrlich in March 2003, the Governor's Commission
will recommend necessary action to increase and preserve quality
affordable housing throughout Maryland.
"It
is a great honor to be selected by Governor Ehrlich for the Governor's
Commission on Housing Policy," states Hettleman. "Shelter
has long been dedicated to preserving and improving affordable housing
for families and seniors in Maryland and I am eager to share my
experience and philosophy with the Commission."
Mr. Hettleman is also the President of the Maryland Affordable Housing
Coalition (MAHC). Formed in the spring of 2002, MAHC is a coalition
of public and private housing providers and other interested groups
working to advocate for the production and preservation of affordable
housing in Maryland.
In addition to his work as President of the MAHC, Mr. Hettleman
serves on the board of the National Multi-Housing Council and is
a member of the National Housing Rehabilitation Association. He
holds a BA in political science from Haverford College and a JD
from the Yale Law School.
