Charlottesville, VA—Park View at South Pantops, a 90-unit affordable
senior housing community in Charlottesville, Virginia, recently named
Susan Coiner Rooke Property Manager. She will be responsible for the
initial lease-up and day-to-day operations and management of the new
community located on approximately 4.5 acres in the 200 block of South
Pantops Road overlooking the scenic Rivanna River. When completed
in late summer, this $10 million undertaking will be Charlottesville's
newest and most exciting affordable senior living rental community.
The community expects to welcome its first residents in September.
Susan Coiner Rooke, a native of Charlottesville, Virginia, has
nearly 20 years experience in real estate management. Prior to joining
Park View at South Pantops, she was Property Manager of College
Park Communities, a large residential community in Charlottesville.
Her previous experience also includes the management of her own
property management consulting firm and the position of Senior Property
Manager for Management Services Corporation.
Susan Coiner Rooke is a member of the Blue Ridge Apartment Council,
the Virginia Apartment Management Association and the Benevolent
and Protective Order of Elks in Charlottesville. She graduated from
Charlottesville High School and Lynchburg College with an emphasis
on business management. In 2001, she was named Property Manager
of the Year by the Blue Ridge Apartment Council, in 2003 she was
Senior Property Manager for the Blue Ridge Apartment Council's Property
of the Year, and again in 2005 she was Property Manager for the
Blue Ridge Apartment Council's Property of the Year.
Park View at South Pantops is a four-story building with elevator,
containing 54 one-bedroom and 36 two-bedroom apartments. The units
feature fully-equipped kitchens, 24-hour centrally monitored emergency
pull cords, wiring for cable television and telephone, a tenant
controlled lobby entrance system, and individually controlled and
metered utilities. Interior amenities include a large community
room with kitchen, salon, exercise room, activity room and laundry
room. A complete range of resident activities and services will
be provided by the Jefferson Area Board for Aging (JABA).
Park View at South Pantops is the result of a collaboration between
Shelter Development, LLC and JABA. The community will provide seniors
aged 62 and older with an affordable quality housing option thanks
to the lower financing costs resulting from the award and subsequent
sale of low income housing tax credits by the Virginia Housing Development
Authority, an enthusiastic advocate of this project.
